Alliance Hunter Races
2010-03-03
Not much advice to give you here. It really depends upon your playstyle.
Most healing talents only serve you well in early PvP, later on when your main healer is down and you have 2-3 people beating on you, it's mostly useless. If you're winning, then it's really not necessary most of the time.
Crits don't do much in PvP against well geared PvP toons. Resillience kills crits. Against lesser geared PvPers, it's just as deadly and never look a 1 gift horse in the mouth. Stoneform works well to remove poisons and such but makes you move so slow that your hunter is a sitting duck if they choose to pick on you. Otherwise, it's a nice ability.
Shadowmeld is only useful on encounter start. With a cat pet, you can both go invisible after you get to your sniping area. If the other team can see you go there though, it's moot. I use it, it works most of the t...
Gaming Through the Ages
2009-09-21
It's safe to say that gaming has evolved into quite a phenomenon over the years. What started as a "cool craze" in the early 80's leading into the 90's has now become one of the most popular sources of entertainment to date, surpassing even television and movies. But, believe it or not, there are a few trends that seem kind of similar between gaming then and now, so I thought I would delve into a few examples as to how much the changes have affected us — and what has managed to stay the same in the conversion.
Some examples I'll be taking all the way from the arcade heyday of the early 80's, while others will be yanked from the 90's and this current generation. With each one, you'll find connection, as well as change that has helped move along the idea of what gaming has become.
Online Gaming

THEN: The idea of networkable gaming was just a twinkle in someone's eye until the early 90's, when community gaming through PC's was born. Games such as Doom and Wolfenstein 3-D began garnering a huge hardcore audience, although connection issues and bugs occasionally came into play with games that weren't really meant to be networkable. Fortunately, it wouldn't be long until companies started establishing more focused gaming networks, allowing for multiplayer...

Cello Buying Tips
2009-09-04

What are some of the factors to consider when you are buying a cello? Aside from the age and experience of the user, there are other considerations that need some thought before going out and buying one.

Age and height is probably one of the easiest ways of determining which size cello to buy. Like the violin, the cello comes in four sizes which depend on the player's height or age.

1/8 size: 4 to 6 years old
1/4 size: 5 to 7 years old
1/2 size: 7 to 11 years old
3/4 size: 11 to 15 years old
4/4 size: 15 and above

One good tip to consider when buying your first cello is to bring along your teacher or a professional cellist. Ask him to play the instrument to determine sound quality.

The wood used for the cello is another important factor to consider. Some of the best quality cello is constructed from spruce and maple. Typically cellos with spruce tops with maple sides and back produce the best sounds. However, be aware that wood quality affects the quality of sound. Wood from certain tree species found in certain areas of the world are sought for their ...
Safety in the World of Warcraft
2009-08-28
In World of Warcraft, there are villains; menacing monsters, undead demons and psychotic kings threatening to end all life. There are also riches for the taking. It turns out that the virtual in-game currency used to buy and sell items and supplies within the game (called wow gold) is worth real world money. At the moment, according to prices listed at epictoon.com, one thousand wow gold coins are worth about ten US dollars. There is even more value in the game accounts themselves. While you can purchase the game initially from many retailers for as low as $20 - once you have invested the time and money necessary to increase your game character's experience level and equip it with the best virtual property, the value of the account may have increased to over two thousand US dollars. Put these facts together with real life villains and it's not surprising that there are real threats to account security. Scammers, keyloggers, phishing sites and other malicious efforts to snag accounts are common. Some efforts are broad; email based phishing ploys using fraudulent Paypal messages, claims of undelivered packages, news of contest winnings, and other forms of bait to hook the unwary. Other efforts are personal and highly targeted, ...
